Packers sign 3, including veteran RB La’Mical Perine, to practice squad

The Packers signed RB La’Michal Perine, FB Andrew Beck and CB Kamal Hadden to the practice squad.

The Green Bay Packers signed three players to the practice squad and placed running back Nate McCrary on the practice squad/injury reserve on Friday, filling the practice squad at 17 players.

With three open spots, the team signed veteran running back La’Mical Perine, veteran fullback Andrew Beck and rookie cornerback Kamal Hadden.

Perine was a fourth-round pick of the New York Jets in 2020. He rushed 72 times for 263 yards and two touchdowns and caught 11 passes for 63 yards over 14 career games with the Jets (2020-21). In 2023, Perine played in three games for the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs, rushing 22 times for 77 yards and catching three passes for 33 yards.

The Pittsburgh Steelers released Perine at final cuts. He also previously spent time with the Miami Dolphins and Philadelphia Eagles. With A.J. Dillon on injured reserve, McCray now out and MarShawn Lloyd still recovering from a hamstring injury, the Packers need the veteran depth at running back.

Beck has played in 66 career NFL games, including 15 as a starting fullback/H-back for the Houston Texans last season. He returned a kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown in 2023. During his first four seasons, Beck played in 51 games for the Denver Broncos. His 33 career touches have produced 220 yards and three touchdowns. The Packers held a pre-draft visit with Beck before the 2019 draft.

The Texans released Beck at final cuts. The Packers didn’t retain Henry Pearson on the practice squad, so Beck could be an elevation option if Matt LaFleur needs an H-back option.

Hadden was a sixth-round pick of the Chiefs in the 2024 draft. He was also released at final cuts. During his final season at Tennessee, Hadden had three interceptions and eight pass breakups before suffering a season-ending shoulder injury.
