Washington ranks inside the top 25 in donations and contributions

The Washington Huskies have one of the nation’s top donor bases.

Since he arrived at Washington, coach Jedd Fisch has been insistent that the Huskies have the resources and donor base to compete with the top programs in the Big Ten and across the country. A recent study of athletics contributions to the nation’s public universities from USA TODAY and the Knight Commission backed up that assertion.

The Huskies ranked No. 22 in the nation in donations and contributions from 2005-2022, with Washington donors contributing $402 million to the program.

However, no school has reached the level of the Oregon Ducks, which has the backing of Nike founder Phil Knight and has reeled in $969 million in the same period. On the football field, Washington has done an impressive job with its resources and is the only school in the Pac-12 era to make multiple appearances in the College Football Playoff.

Now, as the Huskies make the move to the Big Ten, upper campus made a strong hire to keep those donations flowing in athletic director Pat Chun, who was a record-setting fundraiser during his career in the same position at Washington State.
