Former Wisconsin wide receiver signs to Cincinnati Bengals practice squad

Former Wisconsin wide receiver Kendric Pryor signed to the Cincinnati Bengals practice squad on Wednesday.

He rejoins the organization after being released during the Bengals’ extensive roster cuts before last Tuesday’s deadline.

The former Badger wideout caught one pass for 11 yards this preseason. He missed a chunk of the period with a finger injury, which surely did not help his long-shot chance at making the active roster.

The Bengals are deep at wide receiver and instead opted for a top group of Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, Andrei Losivas, Charlie Jones, Jermaine Burton and Trenton Irwin

This will be the third time Pryor enters the season on a practice squad. He spent his rookie year in 2022 on the Jacksonville Jaguars’ unit, then 2023 on the Bengals’.

Pryor was a consistent option during his five-year Wisconsin career (2017-2021). He caught only 13 passes for 179 yards as a freshman in 2017, then caught eight for 119 in 2020 before missing most of the abbreviated season due to injury. Otherwise, Pryor recorded at least 23 catches for 270 receiving yards every season.

His best output came in 2021 — a 32-catch, 416-yard, three-touchdown campaign.

He hopes that dependability can eventually result in a spot on the Bengals active 53-man roster.
