Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is known for having the arm strength to throw the ball just about anywhere on the field.
Pro Football Focus says he makes use of that ability plenty.
Yes, Allen gets in trouble with interceptions. But the reason why Buffalo is OK with that can be displayed by this PFF metric: Big-time throws.
According to PFF, here’s what a “big-time throw” is:
In its simplest terms, a big-time throw is on the highest end of both difficulty and value. While the value is easy to see statistically, the difficulty has more to do with passes that have a lower completion percentage the further the ball is thrown down the field. Therefore, the big-time throw is best described as a pass with excellent ball location and timing, generally thrown further down the field and/or into a tighter window.
So that brings us back to Allen. Who has more of those types of throws than anyone in the NFL in recent memory? It’s Allen.
