A pair of Nebraska women’s basketball players won Big Ten awards on Monday afternoon.

A pair of Nebraska women’s basketball players won Big Ten awards on Monday afternoon. Jaz Shelley earned Big Ten Player-of-the-Week, while Natalie Potts won the Freshman-of-the-Week Award.

This is the first Player of the Week award for the native Australian. She averaged 16.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 4.5 assists for the week. She is averaging 12.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 1.8 steals on the season.

This is Potts’s sixth Big Ten Freshman-of-the-Year honor. For the week, she averaged 13.0 points and 4.5 rebounds. She is currently a leader in the Big Ten for freshmen in scoring at 10.6 points per game, rebounds at 5.5 per game, and field goal percentage at .529 on the season.

Nebraska is 16-8 on the season and 8-5 in the Big Ten. The Cornhuskers will retake the floor on Wednesday night when they travel to Columbus to face No. 2 Ohio State.
