The Cleveland Browns moved on from him and hired Ken Dorsey instead, but Alex Van Pelt has landed on his feet with the New England Patriots.
Van Pelt has landed on his feet after the Browns let their offensive coordinator of the last four years go after the season. He is now set to join Jerrod Mayo’s staff in New England, where he likely will run the show.
What a great spot, Van Pelt is joining a defensive-minded head coach’s staff meaning he may finally get his chance to call plays. On top of that the Patriots own the number three overall pick which will likely be used to draft their quarterback of the future for AVP to groom.
Van Pelt has spent most of his coaching career working with quarterbacks, and the prospect of grooming a young talented player probably helped to lure him to the Patriots. He had a good run with Kevin Stefanski and the Browns and I for one wish him all the best and look forward to watching what he does in New England.
