Nick Nurse discusses Joel Embiid limping at end of Sixers win over Hawks

Nick Nurse discusses Joel Embiid limping a bit late after the Philadelphia 76ers knocked off the Atlanta Hawks at home.

PHILADELPHIA–On Friday night, fans of the Philadelphia 76ers got a bit of a scare when superstar Joel Embiid drove to the basket and then fell awkwardly. The big fella was then limping up the floor for a possession and he didn’t look good.

He was also grabbing at his knee a bit and he looked like he had a tough time really finding any comfort.

The reigning league MVP ended up staying in the game and leading the Sixers to a 125-114 win over the Atlanta Hawks at home, but the focus was on Embiid’s health.

“Yeah, for sure,” coach Nick Nurse said of if he had any concern about the injury. “I mean, I don’t have a lot of information for you. I did talk to Simon (Rice) and he said he did watch it on film. He said we’ll evaluate it here in a bit and then we’ll obviously evaluate it again in the morning because he said you kind of gotta give it an overnight to see what happens to it and all that kind of stuff. So we’ll update you when we can.”

After finishing with 38 points on 12-for-24 shooting and 14 rebounds on the Hawks, Embiid said he feels good. He did stay in the game and made some big plays late after the injury. In terms of what comes next for the reigning league MVP, it comes down to how he feels on Saturday.

“I’m not sure I gotta watch the play, but I just twisted it so we’re gonna talk about it and see how I feel,” Embiid explained. “I should be fine.”

The Sixers next play on Monday when they play host to the Washington Wizards.
