Buffalo Bills tight end Dalton Kincaid has been a pleasant surprise this season with the way that he’s contributed for the Bills without much time to gain experience before playing. Despite starting tight end Dawson Knox missing significant time with his wrist injury, Kincaid has stepped in, produced, and even made some history along the way.
In Sunday’s 37-34 overtime loss to the Philadelphia Eagles that dropped the Bills to 6-6 on the season heading into their bye this week, Kincaid caught 5-of-6 passes for 38 yards (7.6 yards per reception). With that receiving performance, Kincaid did something that hasn’t been done by any tight end in franchise history, according to Bills researcher Mike Haim.
To put this more in perspective, before Kincaid achieved his milestone against the Eagles, the previous record for consecutive games with at least five receptions by a tight end was three games by former tight end Charles Clay. Clay played for Buffalo from 2015 to 2018.
Kincaid, 24, has caught 56-of-64 targets for 474 yards (8.5 Y/R) and two touchdowns in 11 games, including nine starts. Kincaid, the 25th overall pick of the 2023 NFL Draft, is 10th amongst TEs in receiving yards and tied for fourth in receptions at the position.
Dalton Kincaid (5 rec., 38 yds. today at #Eagles) is now only #Bills TE ever with 5+ rec. in 6 straight gms; the previous club record streak by TE was 3 gms by Charles Clay in games 4-6, 2016 (more)
