ESPN’s preseason bowl projections for UNC football program

The UNC football program is projected to face off against SEC programs in the latest ESPN bowl projections.

The 2023 college football season gets underway this weekend with a small slate of games in Week 0. While the action officially begins on Saturday, Week 1 is the big slate that really kicks things off.

As we get set for the new season, ESPN has released its preseason bowl game projections. We are a long way from bowl season but it’s always interesting to see where analysts have teams, including the Tar Heels.

Both Kyle Bonagura and Mark Schlabach released their projections, having UNC in different games. Bonagura has the Tar Heels matched up against Florida in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl on December on December 29 in Jacksonville.

Schlabach has the Tar Heels also facing off against an SEC program in the ReliaQuest Bowl in Tampa on New Year’s Day. He has them matched up against the Tennessee Volunteers.

Both would be interesting opponents for the Tar Heels and should be a good challenge for Mack Brown’s program at the end of the year.

But as noted, these are going to change as the season goes on and we are a long time from bowl season.
