Shilo Sanders: ‘We don’t have an underdog mindset’

Shilo Sanders doesn’t see an underdog mindset present within Colorado

There’s no doubt that Colorado has its fair share of outside skeptics.

From preseason polls to national rankings, not many are expecting even a bowl game from the Buffs in Deion Sanders’ first year. CU players and coaches, however, aren’t embracing an underdog mindset, at least according to Shilo Sanders.

The former Jackson State safety who followed his father to Boulder spoke at Colorado’s fall sports media day on Friday and had this to say about the Buffaloes’ mindset:

“We got a lot of doubters, I don’t know why,” Shilo Sanders said. “But we don’t have an underdog mindset. That’s how we’re coming. I’m not thinking we need to prove a lot. We just need to go out there and do what we do.”

Shilo Sanders later added that his teammates are ready and even looking forward to the spotlight that will be on the Buffs throughout the season.

“Everybody is going to be making plays this season, especially with the stage we got,” he said. “Everybody’s going to be watching and we’re all ready. My dad, Coach Prime, he’s saying ‘We comin’.’ We here now.”
