Former Georgia QB Aaron Murray says A&M is forever Texas’ little brother

“Texas A&M will forever be viewed as the little brother in the state of Texas.”

Former Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray took Texas A&M down a notch in a recent interview with former LSU player T-Bob Hebert. He called the Aggies the one descriptor they never want to be called: Texas’ little brother.

Murray expanded on the thought in the following quote.

“Texas A&M will never own Texas. They will forever be viewed as the little brother in the state of Texas. Regardless of where the programs are, they will always be viewed as the little brother in that state.”

The above quote is a tough pill to swallow, but it’s reality nationally despite a bad 14 years for the Longhorns on the football field. The Aggies still haven’t been able to assert themselves as Texas’ equal in that time in regard to prestige. If they were going to become the Longhorns’ equal it probably should have happened by now.

The Lone Star Showdown rivalry dynamic will be worth monitoring moving forward. We haven’t seen Texas face A&M since it joined the SEC. Undoubtedly, the Aggies have become a better football program since joining the league. Nevertheless, in national perception they remain the Longhorns’ little brother.
