Could Boston’s Malcolm Brogdon still end up a Los Angeles Clipper?

Word is that Los Angeles has ‘re-engaged Boston about acquiring Brogdon’.

Differing accounts exist on what killed the trade of 2023 Sixth Man of the Year Malcolm Brogdon to the Los Angeles Clippers. That was part of the first attempt for the three-team swap that brought big man Kristaps Porzingis to the Boston Celtics.

The accounts cite everything from a matter of timing to concerning results from a medical evaluation being proffered as the cause of the deal falling apart.

Despite that cloud hanging over Brogdon, the Clippers have reportedly had second thoughts about their second thoughts. Yahoo Sports’ Jake Fischer reported the Clippers “re-engaged Boston about acquiring Brogdon in recent days”.

That does not sound like a team spooked by a “poor medical evaluation,” but without access to the specific details in question, the only way to gauge the interest of L.A. will be to see how the market plays out.

With free agency set to kick off at 6 p.m. ET on Friday, the Clippers have been tied to the Philadelphia 76ers as a potential destination for James Harden via trade.

Should that not pan out for Los Angeles, keep an eye on Brogdon among other starter-caliber floor generals who could indeed be on the move.
