Report: Texans WR John Metchie recovering from hamstring injury

Houston Texans receiver John Metchie is recovering from a hamstring injury and should be ready to go for training camp.

John Metchie is working through a minor setback as the Houston Texans organized team activities are underway.

According to Aaron Wilson from KPRC-TV, the former 2022 second-round receiver is recovering from a strained hamstring. In fact, Metchie has not been at the team’s offseason workouts for the past few weeks.

Houston’s offseason workouts started April 3 with Phase 1, which was classroom instruction for two weeks. Phase 2 consisted of offense and defense working together on the field for drills, but could not go against each other as they can in OTAs.

Wilson reports that the former Alabama product is expected to make a full recovery by training camp.

Metchie missed his rookie year battling leukemia. Before Metchie’s diagnosis, the 22-year-old was recovering from a torn ACL sustained in December 2021 during Alabama’s SEC Championship Game win over Georgia.
