After a lengthy development cycle and plenty of speculation regarding its launch, the AEW: Fight Forever video game finally has its release date nailed down.
As revealed in a press release today, THQ Nordic GmbH and AEW announced that AEW: Fight Forever will be available on Thursday, June 29. The launch date is just a few days later than the June 27 date reported by Fightful Select and its sources last week.
Kenny Omega, who has worked closely with the team at Yuke’s who created the game, was featured in a short video confirming the date.
“When I first signed with AEW, Tony Khan gave me the opportunity to assemble the best gaming team that understands and respects professional wrestling, to make the best wrestling games ever,” Omega said in a press release. “Thanks to our incredible collaboration with Geta, YUKE’s and THQ
Nordic, a new era of professional wrestling gaming is quickly approaching. AEW: Fight Forever has exceeded my highest expectations, and I’m confident that June 29 will be a momentous day for wrestling fans and gamers alike.”
Fight Forever is said to take its inspiration from WWF No Mercy and other past wrestling titles in terms of its gameplay and aesthetic, which should make for a more arcade-style experience. Today’s press release touted a number of features already heavily reported to be part of the game, including a variety of match types (with Falls Count Anywhere and Exploding Barbed Wire Death Matches sure to be popular), a Career Mode, customization options for wrestlers, move-sets, entrances, teams and arenas, and online multiplayer.
AEW: Fight Forever will release on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch, and we’ll have more on the game here on Wrestling Junkie closer to its release.
