After two shutout performances and a no-hitter on the road in South Carolina last weekend, junior [autotag]Maddie Penta[/autotag] was named SEC Co-Pitcher of the week, sharing the honor with Montana Fouts of the Alabama Crimson Tide.
This is the third time this season and the fourth time in her career that Penta has earned the title.
Penta played a crucial role in helping the Tigers earn their second consecutive road victory in conference play for the first time since 2019.
The Chesapeake City, Marland native tossed 12 scoreless innings this weekend including a no-hitter in Sunday’s 10-0 run-rule victory. This was the first no-hitter thrown by an Auburn pitcher in conference play since [autotag]Holly Currie[/autotag] put one together in 2006.
Penta has tossed seven shutouts this season which puts her in third place in the SEC.
Penta leads the SEC in wins with 23 and comes in second in ERA with 0.96 and strikeouts with 261.
