The Houston Texans are going with a rookie quarterback and a rookie center combination after all.
The Texans picked former Penn State center Juice Scruggs No. 62 overall in Round 2 of the 2023 NFL draft Friday night at Union Station in Kansas City.
Houston traded their Nos. 65 (Round 3), 188 (Round 6), and 230 (Round 7) selections to the Philadelphia Eagles to obtain their No. 62 overall to take Scruggs.
Scruggs made third-team All-Big Ten in his final year with the Nittany Lions. In 2022, the 6-3, 310-pound interior offensive lineman was voted team captain and started all 12 games for Penn State.
The move comes a day after the Texans drafted Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud No. 2 overall.
The Texans have centers Scott Quessenberry, Jimmy Morrissey, and Michael Deiter on the roster.
