Trades are a major part of the NFL draft each year as teams move up and down the board to either target a specific prospect or pick up additional picks later on. The Los Angeles Rams are one of the most frequent traders during the draft, which is why it’s far from certain that they’ll keep all 11 picks they currently hold.
One way teams determine how far up they can trade or how far down they want to move is by utilizing the trade value chart. Though teams use their own scale for the value of each pick, Rich Hill’s model is widely utilized by analysts and media members.
It’s a modified version of Jimmy Johnson’s original trade value chart, giving everyone a sense of how much each selection is worth. Picks in the first round are worth considerably more than, say, third-round picks, and seventh-rounders offer very little value when it comes to trades.
Here’s a look at how much each Rams pick is worth in the 2023 draft.
Round 2
Pick 36: 166 points
Round 3
Pick 69: 71 points
Pick 77: 60 points
Round 5
Pick 167: 8 points
Pick 171: 8 points
Pick 177: 7 points
Round 6
Pick 182: 6 points
Pick 189: 5 points
Pick 191: 5 points
Round 7
Pick 223: 2 points
Pick 234: 2 points
And below is the complete trade value chart for 2023 with points assigned to all 259 picks. With most of the Rams’ selections coming in the fifth, sixth and seventh rounds, many of their picks don’t have a ton of value.
