While there was plenty of drama (perceived or otherwise) surrounding the contract extension saga of Tennessee Titans defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons, it appears he was assured that he was not going anywhere.
During the press conference making his four-year, $94 million extension with the Titans official, Simmons said he was told by owner Amy Adams Strunk and general manager Ran Carthon that they planned on taking care of him contract-wise.
That’s particularly good news after the team unexpectedly parted ways with another franchise cornerstone — wide receiver A.J. Brown — the offseason prior, which turned out to be a disaster for the franchise.

Things got interesting during negotiations when Simmons went dark on social media and scrubbed mention of the team from his profile. He even went as far as to unfollow the Titans.
While it’s a move other players have made in the past before re-signing with their teams, it was still troubling to say the least with so much uncertainty surrounding the team going into the offseason.
However, Simmons says there was nothing to that other than his desire to not be tagged constantly and to limit the distractions. That doesn’t exactly explain scrubbing the Titans and unfollowing them, but that’s not important now.

Following his agreeing to the deal, the Titans tweeted out that Simmons was following them again, so all is right with the world.
