The North Carolina Tar Heels baseball program is starting to find its groove as the month of March comes to an end.
Following an unbeaten 3-0 week last week, the Tar Heels got a win over North Carolina A&T on Tuesday before a big three-game series with Duke over the weekend. And on Thursday the Tar Heels continued their winning ways thanks to the bullpen.
Kevin Eaise and Matt Poston tossed four innings of shutout baseball in relief to help the Tar Heels earn a 6-3 win over the Blue Devils in Chapel Hill on Thursday afternoon. After some struggles with the bullpen earlier this season, the Tar Heels may have found a nice combo with Eaise and Poston as of late.
Duke took a 3-0 lead with two runs in the top of the first and then another run in the top of the second. But from there it was all Tar Heels.
UNC answered back with three in the bottom of the second inning, as Colby Wilkerson cleared the bases with a double to plate three runs. Mac Horvath then hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the fourth to give UNC the lead before the bullpen held off the Blue Devils.
Max Carlson got the win for North Carolina while Poston picked up his second save.
