Bucs to release RB Leonard Fournette

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are expected to release veteran running back Leonard Fournette

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be making plenty of changes this offseason, and it looks like one more big name won’t be a part of their new direction.

Veteran running back Leonard Fournette is expected to be released by the team, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

This move comes as no surprise, and has been forecast for weeks by many who cover the Bucs closely.

Fournette followed up his “Lombardi Lenny” playoff and Super Bowl run with a stellar 2021 campaign, but was supplanted by rookie third-round pick Rachaad White last season. With White’s star rising, and Fournette’s high salary cap hit and injury history, this was a move that always made plenty of sense for Tampa Bay.
