Diamond Heels rout Radford in Chapel Hill

The UNC baseball program took care of Radford at home in a dominant fashion on Tuesday.

The North Carolina baseball program has now won three-straight games after opening the 2023 season with a loss on Friday. And on Tuesday, they did it with their bats.

The Diamond Heels powered past Radford 14-2 to move to 3-1 on the year as the No. 12 team in the country. After a scoreless first inning, UNC broke the game open with a six-run second inning.

From there, UNC would continue to add to the lead by scoring one in the third, four in the fifth another in the sixth and finally two in the eighth inning to seal it. Jackson Van De Brake had two hits, scored two runs and drove in two runs for the Tar Heels. Casey Cooke led the way with three RBI’s and Vance Honeycutt had two RBI’s in the game.

UNC also got a dominant pitching performance, allowing just four hits all game.

Kyle Percival pitched five innings and got the first win of the year as the freshman looked good for the Tar Heels. Four other relievers pitch an inning each in the win.
