Mike Renner, the lead draft analyst for Pro Football Focus, listed former Badger linebacker Nick Herbig as one of his biggest sleepers heading into the 2023 NFL draft on April 27 in Kansas City.
Herbig is coming off a massive year with Wisconsin, racking up 47 tackles, including a career-high 11 sacks over 11 games with the Badgers. The edge rusher/linebacker forced two fumbles and deflected two passes during the campaign.
Considering his unique burst coming off the edge, the 6-foot-2, 227-pound athlete looks well-suited to be an explosive option in the NFL. He looks to follow in the footsteps of future Hall of Famer J.J. Watt and former teammate and new Super Bowl champ Leo Chenal in the NFL.
