Tar Heels still among ‘last four in’ for updated Bracketology

The UNC basketball program is hanging on for its NCAA Tournament life as we inch closer and closer to the end of the season.

Following a loss to Miami on Monday night, the North Carolina Tar Heels are officially in the danger zone on missing the 2023 NCAA Tournament.

UNC got a big home win over Clemson on Saturday and it looked like they finally turned the corner. But another disappointing performance on Monday has UNC in a spot where they have to win at least 4 of their last 5 to feel safe going into the ACC Tournament.

After games on Tuesday and Wednesday, the Tar Heels are in the same spot after the loss with other games including bubble teams being played.

ESPN’s Joe Lunardi provided an update following Wednesday’s games ahead of the Thursday schedule and on the graphic, North Carolina is still in the ‘last four in’ section:

UNC is the only team in the ‘last four in’ section that survived the weekend as Kentucky, Clemson and Wisconsin all jumped into that section with them.

While the good news is that UNC is still in the field per Lunardi, they will drop out with a loss on Sunday at NC State. It’s crucial for North Carolina to get a win on Sunday to feel a little more comfortable.
