How can Mike Muscala help the Boston Celtics this season? Acquired by his new club at the 2023 NBA trade deadline, the former Oklahoma City Thunder veteran big man has size, 6 feet, 10 inches, and his shooting and mobility will make him a good fit in the Celtics’ style play.
The pick-and-pop specialist can also do damage in a more traditional pick-and-roll offensive scheme. Muscala’s versatile jumper and solid defense will let him give Boston a slightly different look without sacrificing much of note. The 31-year-old plays his best ball in the sort of role he will be asked to play, with an ability to step into a larger one on occasion should rest or injury concerns among his frontcourt teammates need it.
The folks over at the NBC Sports Boston YouTube channel put together a clip breaking down Muscala’s fit with his new team after Boston elected to trade for him on Thursday.
Take a look at the clip embedded above to hear what they had to say.
