Phoenix Suns at New York Knicks odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Phoenix Suns at New York Knicks odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Phoenix Suns (20-17) are in New York City to take on the New York Knicks (19-18) Monday. Tip from Madison Square Garden is set for 3 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Suns vs. Knicks odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Suns lost to the Toronto Raptors 113-104 Friday, failing to cover as 2-point road underdogs. Phoenix, with the against-the-spread (ATS) loss, pushed its record to 19-18 ATS. The Suns have covered just 2 of their last 6 games and are 5-5 ATS over their last 10. They have been playing without leading scorer, G Devin Booker, who will again be sidelined.

The Knicks beat up the Houston Rockets 108-88 Saturday, covering as 4-point road favorites. New York is 19-16-2 ATS on the season yet is just 8-10 straight up at home. It has covered 6 of its last 10 games. The Knicks thrive defensively, ranking 3rd in opponents’ field goal percentage (45.4%).

Suns at Knicks picks and predictions

Prediction

Knicks 112, Suns 108

Moneyline

BET KNICKS (-115).

I would pass on playing a 1.5-point spread and just focus on the moneyline here. While New York is down Barrett, the loss of Booker has been even more detrimental for Phoenix.

The Suns are just 1-5 over their last 6 games and have lost 2 straight on the road, both by at least 9 points. Both Johnson and Booker provide spacing and playmaking at a level C Deandre Ayton and 37-year-old G Chris Paul can’t.

Even if Brunson misses the game, G Immanuel Quickley has averaged 31.5 points per game over his last 2 outings and is starting to heat up. His playmaking should help provide the offensive spark.

The health of C Mitchell Robinson is why New York has been so good defensively, also ranking 11th in opponents’ points per game (112.1) and 5th in opponents’ 3-point field goal percentage (34.1%).

Considering the Knicks’ playmaking abilities and defensive prowess and the lack of key pieces for Phoenix, back the KNICKS (-115).

Against the spread

PASS.

Just worry about who wins and play the moneyline odds.

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 224.5 (-112).

The lack of playmaking is concerning. Barrett is the Knicks’ 3rd-leading scorer on a team that’s strength isn’t its offense. The Suns have scored 104 and 102 points over their last 2 games, experiencing some offensive struggles without Booker in the lineup.

The Knicks and Suns respectively sit 22nd and 24th in pace as well, so ultimately, with the star power missing and the lack of tempo, back the UNDER 224.5 (-112).
