Georgia basketball earns huge nonconference win over Notre Dame

The Georgia Bulldogs picked up a big nonconference win over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Georgia (8-3) won 77-62 over Notre Dame (7-4).

Georgia defeated Notre Dame for at the Holiday Hoopsgiving game at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. Notre Dame is Georgia basketball’s best win of the season.

First-year head coach Mike White and Georgia basketball are looking much more competitive this season. Georgia has a chance to garner NCAA Tournament consideration if it can play well throughout SEC play. The Bulldogs have eight remaining games against ranked opponents, so Georgia will have plenty of opportunities to earn big wins.

Georgia basketball had less turnovers (14) than Notre Dame (15) and got perfect shooting performances from Braelen Bridges and Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe. Bridges scored 18 points to lead Georgia. Moncrieffe added 15 points, four rebounds, and two steals.

Nate Laszewski scored 20 points in Notre Dame’s defeat.

Next up for Georgia basketball is a home game against Chattanooga (8-4) on Dec. 21. Georgia is undefeated at home and has two nonconference games remaining before entering SEC conference play.
