WWE doesn’t confirm WrestleMania 43 in Nashville, but doesn’t deny it either

Small by NFL standards is still just fine for WrestleMania.

Considering that WrestleMania has long past the point where it can be held in anything except large outdoor stadiums, it only makes sense that if a city builds, say, a fancy new NFL stadium, it would be in consideration for the Showcase of the Immortals sometime in the next few years.

That’s what the city of Nashville believes, as it will likely soon have a shiny new home for the Tennessee Titans. The $2.1 billion facility will have a roof and seat around 60,000 people for football games — which, interestingly, will make it the smallest stadium in the NFL.

It’s still plenty big for WrestleMania, however, which is why it made sense this week when The Tennessean reported that WWE would bring the event to Nashville in 2027 as long as the new stadium is complete, especially after successfully holding SummerSlam at the Titans’ current stadium this year. Butch Spyridon, CEO of the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp., made it sound like it was a done deal.

“The minute the mayor’s office and the Titans released the stadium term sheet, we started looking for opportunities,” Spyridon said to The Tennessean. “WWE had an incredible experience at Nissan Stadium this past summer, and we started talking. WrestleMania is considered the No. 6 top sports event brand in the world, and we are grateful for their confidence and belief in Nashville.”

Before you start making plans for WrestleMania 43, though, take note that WWE didn’t confirm or deny the report in its statement (h/t Fightful).

Nashville has exploded as a cultural center in the United States and as the land of opportunity. WWE looks forward to hosting many events in partnership with the great city of Nashville at the proposed enclosed stadium.

The lack of clarification isn’t unusual, as WWE generally only officially announces WrestleMania sites two years out at most. At the moment, only WrestleMania 39 in Los Angeles in April and WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia in 2024 have been revealed.

The Nashville stadium also actually needs to be built, so even if WWE has a handshake agreement with the city, there’s no reason to announce anything just in case that doesn’t happen in time. In any case, to paraphrase a famous movie line, it does appear that for cities who want to host WrestleMania in the future to take advantage of the sweet, sweet economic benefits, if you build a new outdoor stadium, WWE may come.
