Saturday night was a performance to remember for the Texas defense, yet one to forget for Steve Sarkisian’s offense.
The Longhorns couldn’t get anything going on offense to say the least. Putting just three offensive points on the board against the No. 4 team in the country will never get the job done.
Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers struggled for most of the contest, once again failing to connect on deep passes and simply wasn’t seeing the field to find the open man. Several key drops by receivers did stall a few drives, but overall Ewers had one of his worst performances of the season.
Sarkisian will face his fair share of criticism for his playcalling against the Horned Frogs as well. Quite a few questionable plays were called in the redzone at crucial points in the game.
The seemingly only positive that Texas can take away from this loss is the impressive performance by the defense. Pete Kwiatkowski called a fantastic game and clearly has this unit headed in the right direction.
As far as Pro Football Focus (PFF) grades from the Texas-TCU game, the top performer on offense was wide receiver Jordan Whittington, while linebacker Diamonte Tucker-Dorsey held that honor on the defensive side.
