Dabo Swinney and the Tigers are on upset alert right now as Clemson heads into the locker room trailing Syracuse 21-10 at the half.
The game seems to be more about Clemson beating themselves than Syracuse beating them, as the Tigers are arguably playing the worst football we’ve seen from them this season. Starting quarterback DJ Uiagalelei may have come out the gates looking great on the first drive, but the junior has cooled down substantially since then.
Uiagalelei has completed 12-18 passes for 138 yards, with a crucial interception on the doorstep of the red zone and a fumble at Syracuse’s five-yard line that was scooped up for a 90-yard fumble return touchdown. It was a rough first half for the Tigers’ offense.
Clemson has looked exposable on nearly every Syracuse possession as Garrett Shrader and the Orange offense has been consistent when given opportunities. They haven’t beaten Clemson’s defense, but they have done an excellent job of scoring points.
Swinney and the Tigers will need to show up in the second half if they don’t want to be upset.
