North Carolina head coach [autotag]Mack Brown[/autotag] has his team at 6-1 overall and 3-0 in the Atlantic Coast Conference going into their second bye week. Fresh off a win over Duke, the Tar Heels are in control of their own destiny in the coastal division.
And for his team’s performance, Brown is earning some mid-season recognition.
Brown was added to the Dodd Trophy midseason list on Wednesday released by the Peach Bowl, Inc. The midseason list includes 20 of the nation’s top college football coaches. The 20 names are as follows:
Dino Babers (Syracuse), Bret Bielema (Illinois), Mack Brown (North Carolina), Dave Clawson (Wake Forest), Ryan Day (Ohio State), Dave Doeren (NC State), Luke Fickell (Cincinnati), James Franklin (Penn State), Mike Gundy (Oklahoma State), Jim Harbaugh (Michigan), Josh Heupel (Tennessee), Chip Kelly (UCLA), Lane Kiffin (Ole Miss), Chris Klieman (Kansas State), Nick Saban (Alabama) Steve Sarkisian (Texas), Kirby Smart (Georgia), Mark Stoops (Kentucky), Dabo Swinney (Clemson and Kyle Whittingham (Utah).
The award celebrates the head coach of a team who enjoys success on the gridiron, while also stressing the importance of scholarship, leadership and integrity.
