Midseason Pac-12 report: conference championship game scenarios and one key non-Oregon game

One #Pac12 game has nothing to do with Oregon or UCLA … and it could be the key for USC at the end of the regular season.

We’re talking to Ducks Wire about Pac-12 football in this off week for the Trojans, which coincides with the midseason portion of the 2022 college football campaign.

What’s on tap for the second half of the season? In terms of Pac-12 Championship Game scenarios — and there are lots of them with six weeks still left to go — one scenario is of particular interest to USC fans. It has nothing to do with either Oregon or UCLA.

This is the Utah-specific scenario USC fans would love to see. We talked about it with Ducks Wire:

*

I think USC beats UCLA. Oregon will split the UCLA-Utah home games. It might come down to Utah at Washington State.

Since the Utah Utes beat USC, a win at Wazzu enables them to sneak back into the conference title chase and play Oregon for a spot in Las Vegas.

If Wazzu wins, USC won’t have to worry about the head-to-head tiebreaker with Utah as long as it can beat UCLA. IF you asked me today — and that’s exactly what you are in fact doing, Zach — I’d say USC-Oregon is the matchup.
