Where Clemson football ranks in ESPN’s Football Power Index heading into Week 3

Clemson football’s rankings in ESPN’s Football Power Index heading into Week 3.

Week 2 of the 2022 college football season is in the books, and it’s time for us to update you on where Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers rank in ESPN’s College Football Power Index.

According to ESPN, the FPI is a “measure of team strength that is meant to be the best predictor of a team’s performance going forward for the rest of the season. FPI represents how many points above or below average a team is. Projected results are based on 20,000 simulations of the rest of the season using FPI, results to date, and the remaining schedule. Ratings and projections update daily. FPI data from seasons prior to 2019 may not be complete”.

The Tigers didn’t look their best with a 35-12 non-conference win over Furman. Even so, Clemson remained firm in their ranking, though their FPI went down a bit. Staying a top-four team with their 2-0 record, the Tigers have one of the best win-loss projections in college football, according to the index.

Here is a complete breakdown of where the Clemson Tigers stand after the completion of Week 2.
