The Boston Celtics may have an excellent option to use their mini midlevel exception (MLE) on once he clears waivers, according to ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski. After the San Antonio Spurs finish their anticipated release of veteran wing Danilo Gallinari, “his preference is to join the Boston Celtics,” relates Woj.
While it is not certain Gallinari is the presumed favorite for Boston to use their MLE on with several other options reportedly in the mix for that price point of a contract, with mutual interest and a desire to don the green and white, it seems very likely the Italian forward will end up a Celtic very soon.
Gallinari is nearly 34 years old but has aged especially well even considering his non-negligible history of recurrent minor injuries, putting up 11.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game while shooting 38.1% from beyond the arc with the Atlanta Hawks in the 2021-22 season.
This is the full range of players Boston could focus on to take into their largest traded player exception. https://t.co/xLseuQfzEi
