Situated right near the heart of Cajun country, LSU boasts one of the most vibrant fan cultures in sports. If you’ve got that at your disposal, why not show it off?
Hosting Markee Anderson — a four-star offensive tackle from state powerhouse Dorman High School in Roebuck, South Carolina — on campus for an official visit this weekend, the Tigers tapped into that culture during his photoshoot.
Recruiting photoshoots are common in college football, don’t get me wrong. Players get to wear jerseys and pick up cool new Twitter profile pictures. But what LSU did for Anderson was… unique, to say the least.

After all, it’s not every day that you see a pot of boiling crawfish make a cameo in one of these things.
It’s clear LSU is trying to embrace the culture of Acadiana, even though its new head coach — Brian Kelly — is perhaps the most Yankee individual to ever walk the face of the Earth. Kelly is from the outskirts of Boston, and his only head coaching job south of the Mason-Dixon line was at Cincinnati.
Kelly is certainly no stranger to, shall we say, ambitious recruiting gimmicks.
