Sixers star Joel Embiid officially wins 2022 scoring title, 1st big since Shaq

Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid will officially win the 2022 scoring title to be the first big man to do so since Shaquille O’Neal.

The Philadelphia 76ers have one final game left as they prepare for the Detroit Pistons on Sunday night before the playoffs, but they received some news concerning their star big man and his quest for history.

Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo is out for their season finale with the Cleveland Cavaliers. That means that Joel Embiid will officially win the 2022 scoring title as he is averaging 30.6 points per game. He is the first center to lead the league in scoring since the great Shaquille O’Neal in 2000.

Embiid’s scoring average is also the first time a big man will average at least 30 points in a season since Moses Malone in the 1981-82 season. He accomplished that feat on Saturday.

Embiid and the Sixers will now look to finish off their season the right way on Sunday before heading into the playoffs. They will most likely take on the Toronto Raptors so that will be a challenge for the big fella and the rest of the team.
