And you thought “Another feature in your cap” was a problem for Wheel of Fortune contestants?
Oh, just wait.
Yes, Pat Sajak, I will try to be sympathetic to the contestants who struggled mightily this week with a puzzle — RENTING A PEDAL BOAT — that seemed fairly easy on the surface. Heck, even I thought it was called a “paddle boat,” although you pedal a pedal boat.
But there’s a point where it should dawn on these contestants that “A” has already been used and that an “E” is not pronounced as an “A” sound.
Alright, let’s jump to it: Someone first mispronounces it as “PADAL BOAT” and not “PEDAL BOAT.” Then the next one gets everything but that final “L,” and still mispronounces it. Oy.
Next? There’s a spin, a sign that perhaps the contestant didn’t know what that final letter was, thrown off by the misses by the others but not getting that it’s the mispronunciation that’s the issue. She guesses an “M.” Nope. Next it’s a guess of “W???” Nope.
Then? Finally a correct pronunciation.
