Auburn will look to secure an outright SEC regular-season championship Saturday against the South Carolina Gamecocks.
South Carolina (18-11, 9-8 in SEC) beat Missouri 73-69 on Monday and is looking to play spoiler for Auburn.
No. 5 Auburn is a perfect 15-0 at home this season and is coming off an 81-68 win over Mississippi State in overtime on Wednesday night.
The win moved Auburn to 26-4 overall and 14-3 in the conference. It ensured Auburn would win a share of the regular-season crown for just the fourth time in program history.
Jabari Smith and K.D. Johnson made sure that Auburn won the game despite the offence falling apart in the second half. Smith scored 27 points and is averaging 25.6 points per game over Auburn’s last five games.
Johnson, who scored just two points in regulation, took over in ovetime. He scored 12 of Auburn’s 20 points and made sure the Tigers clinched the championship.
Auburn won the team’s first game of the season, winning 81-66 in Columbia, South Carolina back on Jan. 4.
The Tigers depth shined in that game as Zep Jasper (13), Walker Kessler (12), Smith (10) and Wendell Green Jr. (22) all scored in double figures.
