Jaylin Williams Deserves More Respect

While Razorback fans applaud Williams’ efforts, is he getting the attention that he deserves? Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports says no.

One of the key pieces of Arkansas’ amazing run of 13 victories in 14 tries has been Jaylin Williams.

Williams has a run of his own, scoring an average of 14.5 points per contest while grabbing 10.9 rebounds per contest during the stretch. He has also recorded a double-double in six straight games.

While Razorback fans applaud his efforts, is he getting the national attention that he deserves? Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports does not believe so.

In Wednesday’s installment of “The Breakfast Buffet” on CollegeHoopsToday.com, Rothstein calls Jaylin Williams “college basketball’s most least appreciated big man.”

A year ago, Williams was an indispensable piece in the Razorbacks’ Elite Eight run, but his statistics didn’t always show in the box score. One season later, it’s the exact opposite. The 6-10 big man —- who has as high of an IQ as any front court player in the sport — enters tonight’s game against LSU at Bud Walton Arena averaging 15.3 points and 11.7 rebounds in his last six games. He averaged just 3.7 points and 4.7 rebounds last season. Remember this name during the NCAA Tournament.

Jaylin Williams looks to extend his double-double streak, while helping his squad win their 16th game at Bud Walton Arena on Wednesday against LSU. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m.
