The school and coach that has seemingly benefited the most from using the transfer portal has some criticism for the free-agency like affair.
Former Oklahoma head coach and now current USC head coach Lincoln Riley joined ESPN’s College Football Live signing day special and discussed his thoughts on the transfer portal. Something that has been a major resource for teams like USC, and even Texas, who upgraded at multiple positions.
The Trojans currently hold the No. 1 transfer class in the nation with 13 transfer commits. Riley has obviously been busy in the portal, but still had some interesting comments in regards to the player movement. He expressed that he feels as if there will need to be some added measures to make the process easier for the coaches and players.
Lincoln Riley says the transfer portal needs to change.

Riley being the spokesperson of changing the rules and regulations of the portal comes as somewhat of a surprise at the moment, as he brought along multiple key players from Oklahoma, headlined by the portal’s highest rated player in quarterback Caleb Williams.
However, there was a time when Riley’s backup quarterback Chandler Morris was transferring to TCU, and Riley was going to block the transfer because it was within the conference.
It is unclear what rules Riley would want to add, as it seems he follows his own and makes them up as he goes, but there eventually will need to be a modification made to the portal to help with the overwhelming volume of players that do not find new homes along with the strain it is causing on the rest of the nation.
