Retired quarterback Tom Brady didn’t even mention the New England Patriots in his official retirement statement. He instead spent the lengthy Instagram post thanking the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
When Patriots owner Robert Kraft released a statement to acknowledge Brady, however, the quarterback finally acknowledged New England. He posted a brief message of appreciation on his Instagram story: “Thank you @patriots and Patriots Nation … Beyond Grateful and Love You All.”
The fact that Brady didn’t address or reference the Patriots in any way made for many funny tweets. It’s likely Brady is well-aware of how much time he’ll have to discuss his Patriots tenure and simply wanted to acknowledge his two years with the Buccaneers.

It is strange, however, that his 20 years with the Patriots seemed like an afterthought when his retirement statement was 957 words.
