Where does Raiders WR Hunter Renfrow rank among the NFL’s best receivers?

Hunter Renfrow had a career year with the Raiders. Not only did he play in every game, but he totaled 1,041 yards from scrimmage and scored nine touchdowns. He also added 303 punt return yards as he just made a bunch of winning plays for the Raiders down the stretch.

But just how does he compare to the rest of the receivers in the NFL? In a recent article by Anthony Treash of Pro Football Focus, he ranked the top-25 receivers of the 2021 season. Not surprisingly, Renfrow showed up on the list.

He was ranked at No. 10, ahead of players like D.K. Metcalf, A.J. Brown and Terry McLaurin, who were in the same draft class as Renfrow. Here is a snippet of what the site had to say about the former Clemson star during the 2021 season:

“Renfrow was a magnet in the slot. He caught 96.5% of the catchable targets thrown his way from that alignment — the fourth-highest rate in the NFL — en route to earning the seventh-best slot receiving grade.

The 2019 fifth-round pick has established himself as one of the better route-runners in the game. Renfrow’s separation rate against single coverage placed at the 93rd percentile for the 2021 season.”

Renfrow might not profile as a No. 1 receiver in the NFL, but all he has done is improve every single season. If the Raiders can get some more help at receiver this offseason, he could be in for an even bigger year in 2022 as he enters the final year of his contract.

In three seasons in the NFL, Renfrow has totaled over 2,300 yards from scrimmage and has scored 15 touchdowns. Considering he was just a fifth-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, he is proving to be one of the best Day 3 picks in recent memory.
