OKC Thunder news: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander cleared from health and safety protocols

The Thunder welcome back Shai Gilgeous-Alexander from his two-day stint in health and safety protocols.

During Monday’s post-practice media availability, Oklahoma City Thunder interim head coach Mike Wilks announced that Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has cleared health and safety protocols and was a participant in practice.

Gilgeous-Alexander was placed under health and safety protocols on Saturday and quickly made his return two days later. The 23-year-old only missed one game in that timespan in a loss to the Dallas Mavericks that saw his teammate Josh Giddey make history by becoming the youngest player in NBA history to record a triple-double.

Wilks also said that he had no update on Darius Bazley, Tre Mann, Jeremiah Robinson-Earl as all three have been in health and safety protocols for over a week now.

Wilks also said that Lu Dort, who missed the Mavericks game on Sunday due to a sore knee, was limited in practice today.

With Wilks speaking to the media on Monday, it’s safe to assume that Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault is still under health and safety protocols after being placed on it last Tuesday.

“We definitely miss Coach Mark,” said Ty Jerome after practice.

The Thunder next play the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday.
