The college football season has been over for the Colorado Buffaloes for a few weeks now. Yet, they still don’t have a new offensive coordinator after firing Darrin Chiaverini.
As head coach Karl Dorrell mentioned at the time of the firing, it wasn’t an easy decision. Now, weeks later, they still are searching for another offensive coordinator.
On Wednesday, Dorrell jumped on the Pac-12 Network during Early Signing Day and gave an update on the coaching search, according to Brian Howell of Buffzone. However, Dorrell’s comments point that a move is imminent, although the timing and delay make things a bit confusing.
Karl Dorrell said on the Pac-12 Network that "maybe by the end of this week we'll have something," in terms of announcing the new offensive coordinator #cubuffs

Why is this decision taking so long?
Moreover, is Dorrell thinking about poaching somebody from the NFL ranks to run the offense in Boulder? There are a lot of questions to be asked, but one thing appears certain: They are close.
On the Pac-12 Network, Colorado head coach Karl Dorrell said the #cubuffs are "really close" to hiring an offensive coordinator. He said he's "really excited" about the three candidates he's settled on. Said he's done Zoom and in-person interviews.

Earlier, we examined some of the top options for the job, although the program has indeed kept things quiet on the coaching search.
Jeff Tedford was one named mentioned previously in our rankings, but he has become the new head coach at Fresno State. Matt Mumme, another potential candidate, was also just poached by Colorado State.
Stay tuned for more updates on the Buffs’ offensive coordinator search.
