Kirby Smart extends invite to Braves for UGA game

Georgia football coach Kirby Smart has extended an invitation to Atlanta Braves players and their mascot, Blooper, to the Georgia game.

Georgia football coach Kirby Smart has extended an invitation to Atlanta Braves players and their mascot, Blooper, to attend the Georgia-Missouri game on Nov. 6.

The Atlanta Braves defeated the Houston Astros in six games to win the 2021 World Series on Nov. 2. The Braves won their first World Series since 1995.

It remains to be seen if Braves players, coaches or the mascot will take Kirby Smart up on his offer. Several Braves players like Dansby Swanson, Will Smith and Terrance Gore were born in Georgia.

No current Braves players are former Georgia Bulldogs. In fact, there are only four former Georgia Bulldogs, who are currently active players in the MLB.

The Atlanta Braves winning the World Series does take some of the pressure off the Georgia Bulldogs. There will no longer be as many folks referring to a statewide Georgia sports curse.

Kirby Smart and Georgia are the No. 1 team in the country, but know that they must continue to improve one day at a time if they want to play for a College Football Playoff championship.
