Rutgers dropped another Big Ten matchup against a ranked opponent this past weekend, as Michigan State reminded Rutgers fans that their program is still rebuilding.

Despite the 31-13 final score in Piscataway, Rutgers had some bright spots they can build on for the rest of the season. It feels like they rebounded from the Ohio State game even though they added another tick in the loss column.

ESPN FPI is undeterred by their recent struggles, as the Scarlet Knights are now the favored team this coming weekend against Northwestern. They may have fallen off a lot of national rankings after losing three straight to teams now ranked in the top ten of the latest USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll, but they are still getting respect when it comes to their potential bowl eligibility.

USA TODAY college football writer Paul Myberg released his latest weekly re-rank of all 130 FBS schools and there was once again plenty of movement among Big Ten teams after a wild weekend in college football. The Big Ten only has one team down in the triple digits and still has four teams in the top ten.

Rutgers saw the biggest drop in the rankings of Big Ten teams, falling eight spots to settle in at No. 70. Their first time in the bottom half since week 2. Their lowest spot was their preseason ranking of No. 78. Let’s see how they measure up against the rest of the Big Ten.
