The Conference of Champions was represented twice in this week’s USA TODAY AFCA Coaches Poll. A bye week for Oregon sent the Ducks down one spot to No. 10, and Arizona State jumped three spots to No. 22 with its 28-10 win over Stanford.

UCLA, which the Buffaloes face on Nov. 13, also received one single vote in the poll. Chip Kelly’s Bruins took care of business on Saturday night with their 34-16 win over winless Arizona.

Another future Colorado opponent, Oregon State, didn’t receive a single vote after receiving 27 last week. The Beavers’ 31-24 loss to Washington State can explain that.

So what does the mean for Colorado? Well, it is somewhat encouraging to see Oregon fall another spot as the Buffs will soon be in Eugene on Oct. 30. The Buffaloes have already lost to Arizona State, which now appears to be the favorite to win the Pac-12 South. Oregon State should be at least a competitive Week 10 game for the Buffaloes as well.

Just down I-25 in Colorado Springs, the Mountain West’s Air Force Falcons, who beat the Buffs in 2019, received nine votes after improving to 5-1.
