Jake Luton, we hardly knew ye. According to a report by Ian Rapoport at NFL Network, the Seattle Seahawks’ third-string QB has been waived.

Luton is a native of Marysville, Washington who played his college football at Oregon State. The Jaguars picked Luton in the sixth round of last year’s NFL draft and he started three games with Gardner Minshew out but didn’t perform well. He went 0-3 as a starter, throwing two touchdowns and six interceptions while completing just 54.5% of his passes.

Russell Wilson and Geno Smith are now the only two quarterbacks remaining on the team.

There’s an open spot on the roster now. As to who will take that spot, several players who are currently on the injured reserve list will be eligible to return this week. Seattle fans should hope that it turns out to be rookie cornerback Tre Brown, who’s been out with a knee injury.
