See the thrilling Olympics 100m men’s final won by Italy’s Lamont Marcell Jacobs

What a race!

There was some mystery in the 100m men’s final at the Tokyo Olympics: with no Christian Coleman at the Games and United States champion Trayvon Bormell eliminated in the semifinals, who would win gold?

The answer: Lamont Marcell Jacobs of Italy, who ran a personal-best 9.80 to beat Team USA’s Fred Kerley (the winner for silver), just 0.04 seconds behind.

It was a thrilling race, with Kerley seemingly keeping up with Jacobs until the Italian — who was born in Texas but moved to Italy when he was young — pulled just ahead to the finish line.
