Mitch Kupchak confirms pre-Summer League camp invite for LiAngelo Ball

The middle Ball brother will have the chance to earn his way onto the Hornets Summer League roster.

Last week, LiAngelo Ball was seen working out in an Instagram post on Hornets guard Devonte’ Graham’s page which was followed up by a report from Rod Boone of Sports Illustrated that Ball was expected to receive an invite to Summer League with the Hornets.

Well, that report was partially confirmed today by Hornets GM Mitch Kupchak.

“We are going to present him with an invite,” Kupchak said, which the invite will be for a four-day camp prior to leaving for Summer League in Las Vegas. “We’ll probably bring in 18-20 players and he’ll be one of them. If they play well in those four days, then they’ll get an invite to go to Vegas with the team.”

Kupchak said that LiAngelo has been in the Hornets gym working out with LaMelo for about a month and has been ‘great to be around.’

“He’s a Division-1 player. He was a player that was recruited and played for UCLA. He’s a real talent, whether he’s good enough right now, that remains to be seen but he’s fitting right in on the scrimmages that we play on Tuesday’s and Thusday’s,” Kupchak said.

“We’ll bring him to the four-day camp and go from there.”
