NBA Playoffs: Former Warrior DeMarcus Cousins scores playoff career-high 15 points in Clippers’ game 5 win vs. Suns, 116-102

With the Golden State Warriors turning the page to the offseason, Warriors Wire is checking in on former Warriors across the NBA postseason.

With the Golden State Warriors punching an early ticket to the offseason after a pair of losses in the Western Conference play-in tournament, Warriors Wire is checking in on former members of Golden State across the 2021 edition of the NBA postseason.

In the conference finals, the only former member of the Golden State Warriors on the floor is DeMarcus Cousins. The former Golden State center is vying to get to the NBA Finals with the Los Angeles Clippers. To get there, Cousins, Paul George and Terrance Mann will have to go through Devin Booker, Cam Payne, Deandre Ayton and the Phoenix Suns.

Here is a look at how Cousins performed during game five of the Western Conference finals between the second-seeded Phoenix Suns and No. 4 Los Angeles Clippers.

Western Conference finals, Game 5: Clippers at Suns (3-1):

With Kawhi Leonard still sidelined and Ivica Zubac ruled out due to injury before game five, the Los Angeles Clippers needed to lean on DeMarcus Cousins while facing elimination against the Phoenix Suns on Monday night. In 11 minutes off the bench, the former Golden State Warriors center answered the bell.

Cousins tallied 15 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the floor. The Kentucky Wildcats product added three assists, two boards and a steal for Ty Lue’s second unit. Cousins was the only member of the Clippers to score double-figures off the bench. His 15 points were good enough to set a new playoff career-high for the veteran big man.
